The Importance of Regular Medication Use in IVF Treatment

Medication regulates hormonal balance and supports critical stages such as egg development, embryo quality and uterine preparation.

In IVF treatment, using medications consistently and correctly is crucial for both achieving pregnancy and ensuring its healthy progression. The drugs administered during the process help regulate the body's hormonal balance, supporting critical stages such as egg development, embryo quality and uterine preparation.

When medications are not taken regularly, eggs may not mature simultaneously, which can negatively affect both the number and quality of eggs retrieved. Hormonal imbalances can also disrupt the treatment schedule and, in some cases, lead to the cancellation of the procedure.

Medications used prior to embryo transfer prepare the uterine lining for optimal implantation. Irregular use may prevent the lining from thickening adequately, reducing the chance of successful implantation. After transfer, progesterone and estrogen support the embryo's attachment and help maintain pregnancy; premature discontinuation can increase the risk of miscarriage.

The IVF process is intensive in terms of time, effort and cost. Taking medication exactly at the times and doses prescribed by the doctor is vital for treatment success, and any missed doses, incorrect usage or side effects should be reported immediately to the doctor or patient coordinator.
