Guidelines for Medication Use in IVF Treatment

Ovarian stimulation, monitoring egg development and preparing the uterine lining all rely on medication given at the correct dose and time.

Precautions for abdominal injections

Timing is crucial — injections should be administered at the same time every day; even a few hours' difference can disrupt the treatment balance.
Maintain hygiene — wash your hands thoroughly and clean the injection area with alcohol.
Correct injection site — administer 3–4 fingers below the navel or to the sides, and avoid the exact same spot every day.
Medication temperature — bring refrigerated medication to room temperature before injecting, as cold medication can cause pain.
Post-injection care — mild redness or bruising is normal; contact your doctor if there is severe pain, swelling or signs of infection.

Precautions for vaginal suppositories

Wash your hands before and after application.
Lie on your back, insert the suppository as deep as possible and rest for 15–20 minutes to improve absorption.
Keep to regular timing and set an alarm so you do not miss doses.
A whitish discharge afterwards is just residual medication; contact your doctor if it has a bad odor or unusual color.
Report menstrual-like cramps or mild bleeding to your doctor.

General precautions

Do not change medication times, doses or administration methods without doctor approval.
Do not self-adjust missed doses; consult your doctor.
Store all medications in a cool, dry place, usually in the refrigerator.
Avoid mixing medication packaging or names; label boxes if necessary.
Drink plenty of water, eat regularly and rest adequately.
